## what it does

tl;dr: Microsoft’s MCP wrapper around Playwright. The README says it drives pages from the accessibility tree, so the model does not need vision. They also say coding agents may prefer Playwright CLI + SKILLS because MCP tool schemas are heavy on tokens.

Requirements they list: Node.js 18+.

Install

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "playwright": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["@playwright/mcp@latest"]
    }
  }
}

Cursor path they document: Settings → MCP → Add server, command npx @playwright/mcp@latest.

Tools (subset named in the README)

browser_navigate, browser_navigate_back, browser_snapshot, browser_click, browser_hover, browser_type, browser_fill_form, browser_select_option, browser_press_key, browser_file_upload, browser_take_screenshot, browser_tabs, browser_wait_for, browser_console_messages, browser_network_requests, browser_network_request, browser_handle_dialog, browser_drag, browser_drop, browser_evaluate, browser_find, browser_resize, browser_close, browser_get_config.

There is also browser_run_code_unsafe in that list — read their Security section before enabling anything that executes page JS from the model.

This directory’s older Browser MCP page is a generic listing. Prefer this package when you want Playwright’s official server.

We did not run it. sandbox_test.verdict is untested.
